Review of Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015) by Andrew D — 09 Mar 2016
It was a disapointing sequel compared to the 2nd one which I thought was a fresh take on the first one. The 2nd one didn't feel like it had to make the same movie again, but this one kinda felt by the numbers except a teenage girl is being terrorized but that's what they do in every other horror franchise.
Not to say the movie isn't without some good scares and Lin Shaye is great here. Its nice they are sticking with her, becasue she has a wonderful presence. The teenage girl in the film is played by a really likable and good little actress Stefanie Scott (who was actually one of the 2 good things in the Jem and the Hologram movie).
For the two actresses and that Leigh Whannell got his chance to direct and proves he's good at setting up some scary scenes, I think its a passable horror film but with the 4th one I hope they do something we are not expecting again like with the 2nd one.
