Review of Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015) by Mo-Jai M — 19 Jun 2015
Beyond frustrating. Dire. Laughable. Offensively uninventive. This, in one fell swoop, neatly wrapped a bow around my exhaustive list of reasons I hate modern day horror films. Whilst I didn't expect an Academy Award winning screenplay or nuanced character development, I did at least hope there'd be an ounce of thought.
To pick apart plot holes in this movie would be about as useless as its director, an unknown so heavy-handed, uninspired and just pitiful in his approach. I hated the movie. I hated that I could predict every single motion before it occurred.
I hated that I laughed at every 'jump scare' because it was so utterly preposterously ridiculously stupid. Hated. I don't often actively dislike a film I see at the cinema, mainly because I'm generous enough to find merit in even the most atrocious of pieces.
This, however, like Dumber and Dumber To (the last film to physically anger me for the sake of cinema) is a pure and simple turd; an abomination and a shameful piece, offensive to all who even have a shred of care for the cinema.
One star is being generous.
