Review of Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013) by Thomas M — 11 Mar 2014
Commits the cardinal sin of a bad sequel and spends the first hour reiterating information we got in the first movie. Wilson remains wacky in the best ways while everyone else exhaustively chases down jump scares that don't measure up to the first movie's tricks. The best character by far, who deserves her own spinoff, is Shaye's "ghost therapist" who delays her own heaven to help tortured, earthly souls find peace. Her purpose is a million times more interesting than ghostchasers wading in the dark with flashlights or slowly walking up and down stairs.
Points for Rose Byrne getting bitch-slapped from beyond the grave!
