Review of Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013) by Dylan H — 27 May 2014

It does deliver on some aspects but what made its predecessor much more special was its slow burn, simplicity and the fact that when it did scare, it was subtle. Insidious: Chapter 2 can feel somewhat bloated and when it tries to scare, sometimes it succeeds, but more often than not it doesn't.

There's an unnecessary comedic element when its reliance on jump scares is somewhat irritating. There's an element of time that entwines with the plot that does make up for some of the disappointing flaws.
