Review of Insidious (2011) by Diane M — 16 Sep 2013
Formulaic to a fault this James Wan chiller provides exactly the type of haunted house scares that it needs to. The final act is a bit quirky and eye rolling at times but the ending is very tense and leaves room for a sequel.
Patrick wilson is very good as the everyman hero but he is somewhat comedic as the otherwordly heroic father in the end. Nonetheless Insidious is a great, carefully cinematographied movie with excellent sound design that does right to a genre slowly drowning in a sea of Paranormal Activities and equally horrible copies.
