Review of Insidious (2011) by Sam H — 18 May 2014
Yeah! A horror movie from the creators of paranormal activity that isn't a rehash of paranormal activity. I liked the concept. The kid was impressive. I found the main guy slightly cliche father in a horror movie who has a strong bond with his kid but this didn't drag the movie down.
My one little issue. That jumpscare - you know the one - it's been gif'ed a million times- feels so shoved in to make people jump it makes the movie feel like it is trying hard to scare you. And now that I had seen Darth Maul I was less scared when we visited his demonic toy shop of terror.
