Review of Insidious (2011) by Ameen K — 11 Apr 2015
PG-13 horror movies are not very scary these days. Insidious proves that PG-13 rated horror movies can still be scary. Let me start off by saying that James Wan is one of the best horror directors out there. The film has a very eery tone and feel throughout. I really liked how this movie didn't have those stupid generic jump scares, don't get me wrong, I love a good jump scare, thankfully it delivers here. I also thought the ending was gold, it was great. From the opening shot to the last shot of the film, the film has a consistent pace and it doesn't take very long for the shares to happen. I did feel that some scenes did drag on for a bit and when Patrick Wilson's character has to go to the "demon" world, I thought that was a bit silly. James Wan, I commend you for making dark, horror movies that deliver. Insidious does deliver! Go see Insidious in the theaters, it's a great horror movie that's likely to scare anyone who see's it.
Insidious: 4/5 stars.
