Review of Inside Out (2015) by Jaqueline G — 22 May 2018

"Inside Out" is a fantasy and comedy-drama phenomenal directed by Pete Docter on June 19,2015. The 2015 film was produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures.

The storyline follows Riley (Kaitlyn Dias) an 11-year-old girl and her emotions as her parents (Diane Lane and Kyle MacLachlan) decide to move from Minnesota to San Francisco. Riley used to live her joyful life in Minnesota with her five emotions, Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, and Fear all making the core memories that should last a lifetime. But San Francisco brings new challenges as Rileys control center tries to make the best out of any worst case scenario possible. From introducing herself to the new school to hockey tryouts.

"Inside Out" is then faced with adventure as Joy and Sadness take a mission throughout the movie to keep Riley's islands of personality standing. Along the way there will be an excitement of events in headquarters as well as out. Without Joy and Sadness, Riley cannot be happy.

Many opinions pop up in the mission back to Riley as we are faced with plot holes that would have solved the conflict but also take away from the storylines main focus.

The actors all bring a different part into the movie to add to the comedy, bringing laughter to children of all ages. Many component voices are found in popular comedy shows like the "Daily Show" and "The Office". The emotions are characterized with vivid colors and figures to help the audience understand the roles of the emotions. We see Disgust as a vivid green broccoli shape, anger with red vibrant fire, Joy is yellow and energized, Sadness is bright blue to symbolize a rainy droopy feeling, and Fear shivers throughout the movie.

"Inside Out" is an amazing film that can trigger many emotions in people of all ages. The rival between Joy and Sadness will bring many surprises that you'll have to see to understand.
