Review of Inside Out (2015) by Wayne M — 24 Apr 2016
Inside Out is a gorgeous delight. Smart, funny and full of heart. In some ways it's hugely imaginative and quite perceptive. Riley is a young girl that moves from Minnesota to San Francisco with her parents.
As she struggles with the move we look inside her mind to find 5 varying emotions battling for control. Joy seems to be in charge mostly but has to battle control with sadness, disgust, fear and anger.
This is most surely a clever construct and it works extremely well, delivering a shrewd, insightful film that surely pleases all ages. It's also a good way to have an entertaining look at the massive complexity that is the human brain.
