Review of Inside Out (2015) by Dragonsfoe . — 02 May 2016
Hooked on these feelings.
Marketing did not show much of the story, but it's for the better, Inside Out captures all its characters in a humorous, emotional rollercoaster of a ride that's enjoyable for all ages. Pixar returns to the quality films of its glory days, . With strong voice acting, a clever story, tearjerking moments, and very very funny jokes, hopefully Pixar has come to stay especially in its unfortunate lacking in original content lately.
Inside Out is a visual beauty, filled with eye candy and a sense of wonder. If there is one word to describe the dream landscape its "creativity", which the film is full of. I cannot stress the perfect slew of cast members, everyone, Lewis Black and Amy Poehler are particularly standouts. It is hard to believe that this concept, an original, can already be met with such twists and turns, you'll never expect what happens next. Like always Pixar manages to have those tearjerking moments, and thanks to Pete Doctor, Inside Out was full of those. Speaking of great tracking records, Michael Giacchino once again delivers a great score, one that moviegoers will be humming on the way home from the theater.
There was nothing much wrong with Inside Out, sure, it does have its "kiddy" moments, but in its defense it is a kids movie. It was slow at specific points of the film because it relied on these moments. But overall it's a problem easy to shrug off.
Overall Inside Out is your average Pixar movie, emotional, hilarious, clever, fantastic, and original. With very few problems let's hope Pixar stays this way. PIXAR IS BACK!!!
Rating: 8.3 (A-).
