Review of Inside Out (2015) by Jazzmin M — 11 Jul 2016
Now this is what I'm talking about. Pixar is well and back in business...until Cars 3 comes out. This film is immediately one of my favorites from Pixar. It's smart, it's gorgeous-looking, it's challenging, it's funny, it's greatly acted, it's inventive, it's creative, it's insightful.
It's everything that Pixar stands for. I love the characters, too. They may just seem like cliched characters, but they are likeable, especially Joy. I love how they all want Riley to have a good life.
What Riley goes through is very relatable. Moving to a new place is and trying to adapt is difficult, especially if it's far away. For those who say that the film is unoriginal because it's not the first film to do this concept, please stop.
There are lots of films that recycle ideas, but most likely they try to do something new with the idea, and this film does just that. It's like Toy Story, where the concept of toys coming to life has been done a million times, but not the idea of them being attached to their owners and enjoying being played with.
The film is also very poignant. I cried twice. Some people seem to feel that the film is a bit too complex for children, and while I can see that, I think it helps the film more than hurts it. It challenges kids with things they probably never knew about before, which causes them to think about things they never thought about before.
It also has a very important message about the importance of sadness, and that sadness is an important emotion. What else can I say? I just love this movie. I think it's one of the best animated films to come out in the last decade.
I don't even have any problems with it, except that maybe it could've been a little funnier, but that's just a nitpick. Inside Out is brilliant, it surpassed Up as my favorite Pixar film, and it's a wonderful addition to Pixar's lineup of animated classics.
