Review of Inside Out (2015) by Musicman_Pamv — 27 Jun 2015
Pixar is back! Inside Out is their best release since Toy Story 3 and returns to the kinds of stories they do best. It tugs emotionally almost as much as TS 3 and Up! but not quite as much, which is the only reason I do not take the rating all the way to 10.
Inside Out is definitely among the upper echelon of great Pixar films. There is sequel potential, but I honestly would love it if they would leave this one to stand alone. But that is not Pixar's way usually. One can hope, though.
A departure from many Pixar offerings is there is no true villain. The tension is all created by the situations created within the fabric of the plot. And there are plenty of tense moments, along with several heartfelt moments that will pull tears from some viewers. As with nearly all Pixar movies, there is plenty here to keep younger audiences entertained while providing depth and emotion for the adult viewers, especially anyone who is a parent.
