Spike Lee is best known for racially charged message movies, but Inside Man proves that he's also capable of directing first-rate crime thrillers. Clive Owen plays a bank robber with a meticulous heist plan.
Denzel Washington is the police detective tasked with stopping him and rescuing the hostages, but he also has to contend with a shady operative (Jodie Foster) hired by the bank's unscrupulous owner (Christopher Plummer).
This film has a phenomenal cast, but it also boasts expert photography and a witty, intelligent script. I wouldn't be surprised if Inside Man is one day considered to be among the finest examples of its genre.
