Review of Inside Man (2006) by Jack M — 05 Feb 2010
Unbelievably creative, spectacular acting, and a whole lot of unexpected twists and turns. For once, Spike Lee is making a movie you can understand. Denzel Washington has to be one of the greatest actors of the past 20 years.
Clive Owen definitely deserves all the praise he's getting. Jodie Foster was underused until the end, and then it gets fun. This movie also contains one of my favorite quotes. At the beginning of the film, Owen introduces himself as Dalton Russell and tells us he has planned the perfect bank robbery.
When asked why he would do it, he says, "Because I can." The twists rock. Whoever wrote this movie is probably sitting on a pile of happy right now. The cast is A-list. Washington, Owen, Foster, Christopher Plummer, Willem Dafoe, and Chiwetel Ejiofor all have great roles, but the most appealing character in this movie is a kid in the bank playing Grand Theft Auto on his PSP.
I love Inside Man and you should definitely check it out.
