The term "anything but formula" is what makes this movie the potential for great. What hamstrings this movie at times, though, is forcing you to follow along in places that they haven't done enough prep work to have you understand it.
Washington and Owen are fantastic in their roles, and Ojafor is fantastically understated in his performance, but many times, they have to overcome the complexity of the story to keep you involved. They also finish the movie knowing the ultimate ending, but clunkily getting to it.
