Review of Inside Llewyn Davis (2013) by John K — 17 Mar 2014
The music in this movie makes it worth watching on its own. The movie has the pace and stillness of No Country For Old Men, and the heaviness of Fargo. It's a little depressing with not much hope, just in your face reality.
I thought Llewyn would jump off a bridge at the end, but that's the Coen Bros for you; they don't take the path that many "book end" writers/directors do. It leaves you a little sad with a big exhale, though not an exhale you'd get from being surprised or excited.
Although I did enjoy the movie, it is kind of like being a vegetarian: it's suppose to be cool, but secretly you crave bacon.
