Review of Inside Llewyn Davis (2013) by Rich S — 24 Mar 2014

Much like the title character, the film itself goes absolutely nowhere. It is an absolute snooze fest when there isn't a band playing or a cat running around. Though the cinematography is gorgeous and the soundtrack is beautiful, it is hard to feel anything for a character who is a (self-proclaimed) dick that refuses to grow, learn or take responsibility for anything.

And the (Oscar-nominated???) sound mixing is some of the worst I've experienced. I had to keep turning it up when there was dialog and down when there was music. But in all fairness, I haven't been impressed by anything the Coen Brothers have put out since "Fargo.
