Review of Inside Llewyn Davis (2013) by Ankur B — 14 Jun 2014
The Coen brothers rarely fail to live up to their name, and Inside Llewyn Davis is another gem in their fabled filmography. Inside Llewyn Davis is a profound character study of a man who's struggling to make a living as a folk singer in 1960s America.
Oscar Isaac's masterful portray of the musician envokes empathy within the viewer, as we do feel for him as he goes on and on with his mundane lifestyle. Never seeing past the present, Llewyn has no home, no money, but refuses to throw away his identity as an artist.
In conclusion, Inside Llewyn Davis is a thoughtful, pleasantly funny adaptation of Dave Van Ronk's autobiography.
