Review of Inside Llewyn Davis (2013) by Luke S — 23 Jun 2014
Every film by the Coen bros. is worth viewing at least once. Much like "A Serious Man", "Inside Llewyn Davis" is a quiet film that bucks conventions. It doesn't spoon-feed the audience what they want or expect and it doesn't wrap things up in a neat little package.
Because of this, the film feels more genuine and real. Unlike a lot of Hollywood films that are so precisely plotted they almost feel mechanical or artificial, "Llewyn" unfolds more organically and at times even a bit messy.
I found this to be a huge strength. After all these years the Coen bros. continue to fascinate and intrigue, remaining in my top 5 favorite filmmakers.
