Review of Inside Llewyn Davis (2013) by Yash B — 21 Mar 2014
This movie is a realistic take on the music industry. That being said, its not really the happily ever after type of film. Llewyn Davis faces hurdle after hurdle and the viewer just can't help but feel bad for the guy.
This is one of those rare films that has a "dislikable" protagonists that you can still feel empathy towards in the end. The movie just throws you into his tough life and expects you to be intelligent enough to see what his mistakes were in the past.
Also the cinematography is fantastic, which I expected from the Coens anyway. I also appreciated the soulful, sometimes bleak, but always great music in the film too. Oscar Isaac is great as the title character and the supporting cast is also good.
This movie might make you think twice if getting famous is your current goal in life, and for that I give it many props.
