Review of Inside Job (2010) by Michelle R — 04 Aug 2011
One of those docos like Food, Inc. A MUST watch.
I had been waiting for this doco to be released on DVD for ever! And the patience paid off.
If you did not understand the reasons for the Global Financial Crisis, Charles Ferguson explains it in this documentary very well. It doesn't start during the crisis - he goes backwards and tells his audience how it all began.
Given that I watched this after the USA just avoided defaulting on their loan, I'm led to believe that the way they conducted themselves in the GFC is the way they seem to be handling everything. I don't think Obama can be blamed alone. It's the whole political process. There is no doubt, Ferguson showed the power of the Financial Round Table lobbyists. They alone should go to jail along with all the top management of banks who cooked books and authorised the complex and unsafe investments.
I am glad that Ferguson started off with Iceland as a start. I had read an article about how suddenly fishermen were becoming bankers etc. Their fallout was not on the same scale ... but in principle it was the same thing - unregulated lending.
