Review of Inside Job (2010) by Andy B — 20 Aug 2011
Make no mistake, this is a slanted and one sided look at the financial crisis. It goes after bank CEOs and how much they make and pushes for more regulation on investments but takes no look at all at the real reasons for the crisis. Things like lowered underwriting standards pushed by Fannie/Freddie or the fact that non of this happens if people don't buy homes they can't afford...where is the look at personal responsibility? What about looking at bankruptcy laws or FDIC or bailouts which create safety nets for risk?
This movie was a general waste of time. I don't need a movie that for nearly two hours tells me there are greedy people who exploit other greedy people and act unethically though not actually breaking any laws. People in the country need to understand living within your means and not chasing instant gratification and get rich quick schemes. If we do that, these crisises don't happen because the people at the top have nothing to exploit. But I guess its just easier to engage in class warfare and to blame capitalism and anyone in general who makes money.
