Review of Inside Job (2010) by Sarah O — 08 Feb 2012
This film educated as well as enraged me. Of course everyone knows about the housing bubble, but how much to people outside of the Financial sector really understand about it? Inside Job breaks it down and uses graphs and points fingers to make it clear to the audience what happened. There are interviews with Financial and Government insiders.
What I found interesting and somewhat suspicious is how Eliot Spitzer was prosecuting the main offenders for illegally spending funds on prostitutes, and then he gets busted himself. Is this a conspiracy, considering none of these other people ever went down for the same exact crime?
My one complaint is that some of the graphs and their explanations went by too fast and it took me awhile to catch up to comprehend the concepts. No financial wizard myself, I feel like I have a grasp on what's fair, and these men learned how to work the system for their own personal gain & F the rest of the American people. Scary that a lot of these Wall Street CEOs now have high-ranking positions with the Federal Government and support the de-regulation of the Financial sector, which caused the collapse. Nice to know that someone was willing to expose these criminals, who have collectively pulled off a huge heist unscathed. Should be required viewing.
