Review of Inside Deep Throat (2005) by Mike R — 05 Sep 2007
Great documentary, not only about the movie itself, but how the world was in the early 70's. Now I dont know if I can believe that it has made 600 million dollars, since they never really backed it up, but it obviously was, and still is a cultural phenomenon.
Ask anyone, and I would bet the majority have heard of deep throat. It starts off about the movie, and in cronological-ish order talks about the bullet points that showed how the movie affect america.
The movie basically fueled the sexual revolution, but also had to fight for its freedom to show, and in Harry Reems case, be in it. They also made the case, that they wanted to merge hollywood, and explicit sex scens together.
.. Problem with that was, once VCR's came about, people were able to make porn cheap, and sell it quick. The people in this movie, thought it was a bad thing to do, since they were turning it into something cheap.
A really well-made documentary, even if some of the fact they showed may not have been true. But that doesnt stop Michael Moore from winning awards, does it?
