Review of Inside Deep Throat (2005) by Jeff H — 24 Jul 2008
Inside Deep Throat is not so much a "making of" documentary as it is a sociopolitical look at a landmark pornographic film and the America that preceded and followed it. It also looks at the impact the film's controversies and successes had on the people who made it: director Gerry Damiano, and stars Linda Lovelace and Harry Reems.
Pornography has always been a well-trodden battleground in the American culture wars between puritans and libertarians; Inside Deep Throat is a very slick, witty and entertaining entry into that fray.
