Review of Inside Deep Throat (2005) by Annelies S — 05 Jun 2009
Wooow! This is really a documentary that made me jump of anger! When you tell artists - bad artists or good artists - that they can not experiment in certain avenues you are taking away the basic freedoms of every American! actor Harry Reems said in an interview during the Deep Throat trial. Really well-said. His co-star, the late Linda Lovelace was a bit of a turncoat when she realized she went free she hastily turned and backed the feminists against porn group and wrote a book about her experiences. Harry Reems was told: If the Republicans are going to be re-elected you're going to jail, if the Democrats are elected you're going to be set free. (Another of many reasons why NO ONE EVER should support the fucking hypocritical Republicans!) Thanks to the Jimmy Carter voters actor Harry Reems was set free.
But be not mistaken fellow Flixster users, even Flixster is very good at censoring on this very website. Two examples: I uploaded a movie still of a bare naked Alan Rickman taking a dip into the ocean from the flick Dark Harbor which was immediately being removed by the Flixster moderators. Also I had to censor my Dogma skin by putting a black square on the Metatron's non-existent genitals. (Feel free to take a look at that skin in my created skins and laugh out loudly!).
No really, Americans are as prudish today as they were in the 70ies when Deep Throat was in theatres and caused a stir.
This documentary also shows the progression towards today's porn industry. And I must agree with the Deep Throat film makers: at least Deep Throat seemed created for the sake of art rather than today's porn, made because of money and nothing else.
