Review of Innerspace (1987) by Berdejo C — 30 Mar 2010
(Spoilers will follow!!!).
The two men who brought you "Gremlins" (Joe Dante and Steven Spielberg) hit another home run with this entertaining sci-fi comedy. I loved all the parts that played with the internal body systems (for lack of a better term), like when the pod containing Dennis Quaid's character is transferred from one body to another by way of a passionate kiss, or the finale inside Martin Short's stomach. But the part where Martin Short's face is altered was arguably the best visual gag in the whole movie (with the midget rival scientists coming in at a close second).
Okay, I'll admit there were a couple parts that had me scratching my head (80s humor...), but for the most part, this was a fun watch (not to mention I started watching it at almost midnight!).
4/5 stars.
