Review of Inland Empire (2006) by Jason R — 01 Sep 2008

This is easily the most difficult Lynch movie. There is very linear storytelling and no easy resolution (as if you'd expect one). I love Mullholand Dr. but it has a very distinct and understandable story if you concentrate.

I focused on this movie and tried so hard to find the story but kept coming up empty handed. The reason that I still give the 3 hour movie about very little a high rating is that 1) it looks great...Lynch's shooting style keeps it interesting and 2) Laura Dern is amazing.

I've always liked her but she plays so many different roles in this movie that I'd think it would be difficult to try to maintain them (like her character).
