Review of Inland Empire (2006) by Joe L — 31 Oct 2008
As big a fan of Lynch as I am, I found this kind of disappointing. Too long by at least 45 minutes, and simply too impenetrable. As much as I enjoy all the hallucinatory, dreamlike images, I also like at least a hint of coherent story ( see 'Mulholland Drive', and 'Lost Highway' ).
Still, the movie is fascinating to watch at least, and after the halfway mark you kind of go into a trance as all these insane images and sounds simply wash over you.
