3rd viewing! another cryptic film from David Lynch with references to everything from Alice in wonderland to Bunuel and Dali's Un chien adanlou. There are even a few twin peak in-jokes thrown in. This film lacks a simple narrative structure but shows off Lynch's style and experimentation with SD video.
My one gripe, that I think lessens the film to Eraserhead, is that the film and characters lack simple moral dilemmas. Eraserhead was equally 'experimental' but its symbolisms made reference to moral issues within (e.
G) a family unit, and I was able to relate to the situations Jack Nance found himself in. Inland Empire is very exclusive to Hollywood society and their self-styled troubles. i.e â?? If the Polish film is cursed, donâ??t remake the bloody thing.
