Review of Inland Empire (2006) by Buddy K — 24 Jan 2010
Was fairly interesting early on and I guess since Laura Dern was onscreen most of the time and I didn't just turn the damn thing off means she was good but other than that there's no real value.
Lost Highway, Eraserhead and Mullholland Drive all fall into the same category as this movie however all three of those movies manage to at least wow the audience in the end and have some semblance of story.
I don't demand that David Lynch's movies have actual storylines but 3 hours is just a bit too long to ask somebody to watch a movie with barely any plotline. The atmosphere was definitely Lynchesque however the movie could have been about a half hour shorter and been just as weird, just as Lychesque and alot less frustrating.
Perhaps finishing it at 1:30 in the morning was the culprit and not the movie itself however, the fact that I never want to watch this again points to the latter instead the former. So to sum it up Laura Dern= Good.
Atmosphere= Plenty weird. Length= Way too damn long.
