Review of Inland Empire (2006) by Curt B — 24 Feb 2009
I first saw this film at the Music Box Theatre in Chicago. It was midnight and the dead of winter. My girlfriend and I waited for over an hour in a line that stretched two blocks and around the corner.
Lynch himself was there to introduce the film and then read a short poem to us. Probably some of the most beautiful and effecting cinema I've ever seen. Powerful, great audio as always, great acting, and very playful, creative, and absolutely raw.
I love this film but it's certainly not Lynch's masterpiece, that distinction I would have to give to Mulholland Drive.
