Review of Inkheart (2008) by Jason J — 08 Jul 2010
A man called Mo who was born with a special gift that whenever he reads a book - he can bring the characters out of the book and into our reality is on a mission with his teenage daughter to find a novel called Inkheart. His wife disappeared into the book when his daughter was a baby as he was reading it. But the villains of the novel led by the evil Capricorn are in our world and is determined that Mo read him passages from the book so that he can attain power to control the world.
A very imaginative and charming fantasy family movie which was really great to watch. I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. It's definitely a lot of fun and the storyline is interesting and exciting. The cast is wonderful with Andy Serkis on top form as the evil Capricorn and Helen Mirren stealing every scene she's in as Aunt Elinor. Great special effects throughout especially during the 2nd half of the movie when the action moves to Capricorn's castle as we see the creatures such as the Minotaur that he's captured and the awesome arrival of the Shadow. Although it bombed at the box office, I think Inkheart is brilliant movie that deserves to be seen by families. Kids and definitely those that like the Harry Potter books will love it. Highly recommended.
