As far as fantasty movies go, this one beats out The Golden Compass, but barely. These were not characters special enough to fall in love with and the plot was so-so. It felt like a jumbled mess the way all the different characters and animals were pulled from various books.
Yes, the concept is pretty cool and I'm sure the books are great, but the movie just didn't do it for me. It's just another movie with a message about how important books are and should remain to be.
