Review of Inkheart (2008) by Anthony M — 14 Nov 2011
The actors they chose were PERFECT in their roles. All except Basta and Darius. I pictured Basta a little more intimidating (big, bald, and ugly). I pictured Darius a lot older because of the friendship he has with Elinor later in the books.
Of course with all books, Hollywood has to change them up to make them shorter and more dramatic. This was actually done pretty well for this movie. I did enjoy the book more (obviously), but the movie was pretty enjoyable too. However, there were a few changes that I did not like. I won't list them here since they would spoil some of it, but if you would really like to know, just ask!
There are also a few things in the book that I would've liked to see happen in the movie. I really hope that the movie does well so they can continue the series. If they are able to though, they better spend more money on making more CGI things like the glassmen and blue fairies and fire elves and water nymphs and giants and white women and Death. ^_^.
OVERALL, I think it was good enough to see if you like fantasy films. You'll probably like it better without reading the book first though. Just make sure you read the books by Cornelia Funke afterwards!
