Review of Initial D (2005) by Alicia W — 17 Jun 2007
This is a cooperative effort, with japanese and chinese (taiwan, too) working together to bring the anime series to the big screen. this movie defies western "stock character" stereotypes, though it doesn't avoid all of the asian stock characters.
the father and jay chou's character make this racing movie into more a myth than a cheap thrill...it has been released in the u.s., and there is an english-subtitled version.
