Review of Initial D (2005) by Jere M — 30 Mar 2011
Generally anime to live action does not fare so well, but I thought this one turned out pretty well. Granted they took some liberties with the characters, some of which enhanced the story some hindered it (for instance the movie's version of Iggy is not as enjoyable as the anime's version).
The scripting was solid and for the most part consistent with the theme of the anime. I think it is important to consider that the live action version is a variation on the premise of an anime and as a result I felt that they did an excellent job of staying true to the feel of the Initial D anime.
