Inherent vice is a huge let down. I had low expectations going into it, but it did not even meet those. 2 out of 5 stars is almost too kind. If you want a movie that has a solid plot, or any real plot, then prepare to be disappointed.
Without giving anything away, there is no real plot here, and the one you think you will get just sort of panders out and is forgotten. So many things to keep track of that you think are relevant. All while you realize that the entire movie is about nothing.
It is a boring couple hours of your life you will never get back. You wonder why anyone would trust the main character at all as he does nothing besides say one word to most questions he is posed and smoke tons of weed.
The ending with one of the main antagonists throws a huge curve ball and makes you wonder what the heck just happened. Everything about this seems like a unfinished collection of plots, all of which would have been great if just one of them was pursued, not all of them.
Inherent Vice is not funny, not action packed, just really boring.
