Review of Inherent Vice (2014) by Hugo G — 14 Jan 2015
8.2/10.
Joaquin Phoenix was everything in this movie, his performance was amazing an hilarious. He truly delves into every single character he plays, and delivers always excellent performances. The movie also consisted of many famous faces that were outstanding as well, like Josh Brolin who played it cool and had some incredible scenes, and Katherine Waterston who by only standing had this serenity and presence that worked great with the movie. Moreover, the story was a little more interesting than I thought it would be, but what had in confusing, lacked in some cohesiveness. I mean it was a very funny movie with great performances, but sometimes it was hard to follow and understanding the story. Still, director Paul Thomas Anderson managed to put together this whole story which could've easily turned into a mess, and instead put together a very talented cast that was able to bring to life each character that eventually turned into this very good movie.
