Review of Inherent Vice (2014) by Tim V — 03 Feb 2015
Now this review is a challenge, only because this film requires multiple viewings/weed, before I fully understand what it has to offer. Let's start with what we know. Director Paul Thomas Anderson, adapts the Thomas Pynchon novel of the same name.
Evidently, he does a really good job, with its 2 and a half hour run-time, and agreement from those who read the book. While this isn't a BRAVO PTA, like with There Will Be Blood, this is still an entertaining and skillfully crafted work of cinema.
I wasn't bored at all during the film, unlike my friend. My only personal complaint, was the "narrator" and her voice, which at points I found irritating, and I'm not sure why. Also, Katherine Waterson officially scares me now.
Otherwise, a great start for the year/first 2015 theater movie!
