Review of Inherent Vice (2014) by Richard B — 02 Apr 2015
I've always been a big fan of Paul Thomas Anderson's films (even though I think his epics Boogie Nights and Magnolia are his best). So I was pretty excited for this film as I loved its trailers.
The film is pretty crazy and doesn't make a whole lot of sense all of the time. It is kind of frustrating as it's a detective story, but you don't actually get to make too much sense of it as it just keeps getting weirder and weirder; that being said I really liked it.
The film kind of had a Big Lebowski vibe without trying to copy that film at all. I regret just renting this film, because I want to re-watch it to try to make some more sense of it. Overall a very out there film that I thoroughly enjoyed and want to see again.
