Review of Inherent Vice (2014) by Ryan B — 19 Jul 2015

This movie is so all over the place. This is both good and bad. The good is that it reminds you of the big lebowski in the sense that the main character just sort of gets wrapped up in this crappy situation. The first hour and a half are fantastic. My eyes were glued to the screen the entire time. Then a certain scene happens, and the whole movie suddenly shifts gears and gets so over the top that it just gets hard to watch. The last hour isn't necessarily bad, but it's not necessary either. Overall, when I left the theater I had a sense of enjoyment. I think I need to rewatch this a third time in order to know what I truly think of it.
