Sure, it's probably my least favorite film by Anderson, but it's still pretty damn great. I find myself returning to it often, even if I find it difficult to finish in one sitting no matter how hard I try.
There are so many great moments here, though, and that's the essence of INHERENT VICE. A hazy recollection of sparkling memories, with an underlying sense of sadness, like we are in the ruins of a bygone era about to evaporate.
