Review of Inglourious Basterds (2009) by Zachary G — 03 Apr 2014
It might be tough for the average film goer to get over the long dialogue scenes. I love them and think they perfectly balance the suspense of the action that follows after them. Just like the end of the movie states, I believe this is Tarantino's masterpiece.
. Not really since all of his movies are tough to compare, but it's really great for his first take on a period piece. Edit: I left the star rating the same, but this edit comes after several additional viewings.
I have a somewhat change of heart, mainly morally. I think a lot of the language is harsh, like any Tarantino film. Mostly it is "acceptable" because of the characters using them, but I still don't appreciate so much blasphemy.
The very brief sex-scene is so unnecessary, I really wish he would have replaced it with something else, or completely removed it... and I just watched the trailer and see that it is very misleading haha.
So much less action than talking, and the trailer shows the opposite.
