Review of Inglourious Basterds (2009) by George D — 05 Nov 2014
Quite a long one at 2.5 hours.. and actually seemed less Tarantino-ish than his other works. The choice of music was rather varied. But really quite an achievement that he went international and made a war movie! Stunning first Chapter (where Christoph Waltz's Nazi Colonel calmly tears the Frenchman's secret down).
Some chapters were great, some less, but the different plots soon start to converge when the various characters start appearing together in the same chapters. Cool ensemble! Michael Fassbender was subtly superb, and that scene in the bar around the table was so horrendously nail-biting that I stood up grasping my pillow, LOL! Christoph Waltz was magnificent, speaking German, French, English and even Italian to blow poor Brad Pitt's cover! (but I feel Christoph actually topped this with his performance in Django Unchained).
Anywayy, already 2 Oscars won! Other memorable performances: Diane Kruger, Melanie Laurent and Til Schweiger. And crikey, Mike Myers was in this too!
