Review of Inglourious Basterds (2009) by Ben T — 30 Sep 2015

Quentin Tarantino is one of those directors who likes to shake up premises for movies in a great way. For example Reservoir Dogs is a heist movie where you don't see the heist, Django Unchained is a movie where we have a black cowboy killing white people in a time of oppression.

Inglourious Basterds is a movie where you have Jews killing Nazis. This is a great movie and one of Tarantino's best. This movie has an amazing cast, Brad Pitt, Christoph Waltz, Eli Roth, Diane Kruger, Michael Fassbender, Til Schweiger, a brief appearance from Mike Myers and the voice of Samuel L Jackson.

Brad Pitt is so good in this movie he's very likes or and has a lot of funny lines. Christoph Waltz is a brilliant villain and deserved his Oscar for this movie. Quentin Tarantino directs this film amazingly, he adds his unique touch to this movie and it's brilliant.

This film is also very tense, the opening scene will have you on the edge of your seat. The bar scene is nail biting and has an amazing pay off. This film also has some very funny moments, a lot of which comes from the amazing script.

As with all Tarantino movies the dialogue is fantastic, it all feels so natural. This film has a great climax it's all really well done and has an amazing kill that will satisfy everyone. Even though this movie is about world war 2 this film is in no way historically acurate so if you want to see a historically acurate world war 2 movie then this isn't it.

This film like all Tarantino movies is very gory so don't watch it if you can't handle violent movies. In my opinion Inglourious Basterds is a near perfect movie however some of the stuff with Shosanna and Fredrick Zoller does go on a bit too long but just like Pulp Fiction this is an amazing movie with one over long sequence.

This is an absolute masterpiece and one of Tarantino's best. It's one of my favourite movies and it's just so good. A+.
