It's certainly an interesting little sci-fi horror-thriller. One where solid performances and decent action keep you entertained amongst the always compelling space setting. Where the movie stumbles is in it's more complex elements. The world is built up on interesting futuristic technology and the plot centers around an interesting alien life-form. Both of which go under explained.

As a result the movie's more interesting topics feel muddled and confusing. Whatever message it was trying to deliver ends up jumbled amongst all the weirdness and lack of explanation. Certain themes still peek through, but there's a vagueness surrounding the overall greater picture.

The core plot about people struggling to survive in the ever isolating void of deep space amongst some kind of infection is still entertaining. This is mostly due to the cast. Everyone here does a fantastic job, allowing the effects of the outbreak to show in themselves in believable ways. We're also treated to some very exciting scenes of people losing their minds. The dialog is pretty sharp and it's able to achieve a certain emotional resonance. Most of these characters just want to get home to their kids.

The action in the movie is pretty solid. An extended fight near the end does come off as a bit too over-the-top with the way the scenes cut form series of punches to series of punches, but it's all still pretty good. The horror element fall flat thanks to nothing scary ever happening onscreen, but there are hints of psychological horror running in the background.

While it has it's issues, Infini can still provide an entertaining watch for the sci-fi faithful. Particularly those who like to see the genre mixed with a bit of horror. The biggest stumble is just with the writing. There's just some poorly explained stuff holding all of this together. Particularly where the ending is concerned. You can still follow the core plot so it's not too hard to put up with. It also helps that it's well acted and a pretty attractive film.
