Review of Inferno (2016) by Dave M — 27 Oct 2016
"Inferno," is the fourth book of the series penned by author Dan Brown, and the latest movie starting Tom Hanks as Robert Langdon. This is the third movie adaptation, with the "DiVinci Code," and "Angels and Demons," as it's predecessors.
The movie unfolds as Langdon finds himself awakening from what appears to be severe head trauma. His nurse is Sienna Brooks, played by Felicity Jones, is attempting to help Langdon understand what's happened to him. Unfortunately, the audience in this film is left feeling the same as Langdon, lost and confused, and for most of the movies this is the case.
The film moves along solving clues from bits of history, specifically Dante, and takes us on a ride of breathtaking views of Italy, Venice, and Turkey, but the same cannot be said of the feeling the film conveys. It comes off flat and non engaging. That's so unlike what we are used to experiencing with Tom Hanks and director Ron Howard. Fans of the series may enjoy the film, but even with the the cool scenery and history lessons, "Inferno," failed to scorch Mickey, myself, or the very quiet audience.

Rated PG-13 for action and violence, disturbing images, language, and brief sensuality.
