Review of Inferno (2016) by Susan S — 01 Nov 2016
This has to be one of the more disappointing movies I have seen in the last year or two. When you have Tom Hanks teaming up again with Ron Howard, you expect sometime special. And unfortunately, this was special, but not in a good way.
the movie confuses you right at the start and you spend the next half trying to figure out who are the good guys. And poor Professor Langdon, presumably suffering from a bullet wound that is not a bullet wound at all, is confused right along with you. Maybe Tom was beginning to wonder what the hell he was doing in this movie.
The strands to this convoluted plot, all centering, I think, on a billionaire who wanted to take action on the world population situation, decides to unleash a plague on the world.
Enter Professor Langdon who apparently is the only one, even including the billionaires girl friend, who can decipher the code to lead them to the bomb that will unleash the plague. And If they have never deciphered it? Would the bomb still have gone off? Who knows? If you are confused after this overview, welcome to the club.
If you were watching this movie at home, you would probably start changing channels. Maybe the movie theaters should provide such an option.
