Review of Inferno (2016) by Jackson L — 17 Nov 2016
Unfortunately, INFERNO is just a brilliant idea littered with a bunch of unimaginative evasion scenarios that fixate on Tom Hanks finding his way in and out of historical tourist sites. THE DA VINCI CODE was decent, ANGELS & DEMONS was magnificent, and this ended up being a monotonous piece of trash.
It's like a nineties detective movie that doesn't become an adequate theatre experience until the final twenty minutes. Something so smart isn't suppose to drown the viewer with impracticable timed luck dumped on half of the action sequences.
The backstory of exterminating half the planet with a virus to prevent overpopulation is very cool, but it almost seems like someone handed the project off to a bunch senior citizens to direct.
